I got some of the BEST news EVER

This post has nothing to do with crafting... But, about my oldest baby. He left April 1st for the Army. We spent our summer on vacation visiting him for his graduation from basic training, family and attending a convention at Disney World...

Anyway, I have not seen him since June and I just found out he has his plane tickets to come home for Christmas. Can you say 'the best present EVER'? We are hoping he gets hometown recruiting, so that he is home for an extended period. If not, then it will only be for a few days.. But, I will take whatever I can get.

I am one HAPPY Momma...

Only kicker is... He will not tell ANYONE when he is coming home, as he wants it to be a surprise.. Little stinker... I sure love him...

Ok, I guess that is all... I hope everyone is getting ready for all of the ghosts, princesses, pirates etc,. that will be stopping by tonight. I know my hubby is excited.. He LOVES Halloween..

Until later,

Happy Crafting!!

Friut of my Hands

So, I do not know about you.. But, I LOVE my sizzix BigShot. I love my collection of Spellbinders, and my tiny collection of Stampin Up Thinlets... I will say it did get frustrating for awhile having the metal dies moving on my card stock as it ran through the machine.

You can imagine my excitement when I learned of the new Sizzix magnetic thinlet platform came out. I waited patiently for it to be carried in a retail chain... So, incase you do not yours .. YET... I bought mine from the HobbyLobby website for $20 and free shipping.. You can't go wrong with that deal....

To make things even better... A friend of mine directed me to a wonderful page on FaceBook, Fruit of My Hands. She runs this on the side. In case you are asking yourself what is great about this page, well here ya go....
I have personally, nearly doubled my thinlet collection, because of her page...

She offers great deals on different dies and is just plain wonderful to do business with. Most of the dies are from 'Memory Box', but she has offers of other brands from time to time.

You really can not go wrong stopping by her page. So, please pay her a visit... I know you will be glad that you did.

Here is the link, again.. just in case you missed it...

Maple Manor SVG Kit

So, as mentioned earlier this week, I am addicted to a die-cut machine.. I do NOT even have... YET (Hint, hint.. Huney :-)Well, in addition to this amazing machine (Silhouette Cameo), I have been hooked on a website that comes up with some of the most wonderful svg cut file 'suites'.

SVGCUTS.COM is getting ready to release a new holiday 'suite' that I an anxious to see and, of course, BUY!!! If my guess is right based on the 'sneak peak', then it is some sort of 3-D Church with a wreath on the steeple as the main focus piece. Of course, these suites have some many supporting pieces that are just as wonderful as the 'PRIZE' item (as I like to call them).

I hope you go check them out. They are wonderful site. I hope to be sharing more of my creations in the future... with my very own silhouette (again, Hint.. hint, Huney :-)

Here is a link to a project I hope to be making very soon. I hope you enjoy.. I know I am going to try it in the featured Halloween theme and a Christmas theme, as well...

Enjoy...

As Always..

Texas Mums

So, as mentioned in a previous post... I am sharing a popular Texas tradition. Homecoming means spirit week, high school football games, homecoming court, halftime.......
AND MUMS...

I have posted about mums before, when we first moved to Texas and my oldest came to me two days before homecoming saying he needed a mum for his date.. I had NO clue what he was talking about...So, being the crafty mom that I am... in comes GOOGLE..
Dates make them for each other and many make their own. The guys wear theirs on their arms with garters and the girls can either pin theirs on or hang them from their necks.
The bigger, the better, the gaudier, the better...

This year, my daughter and her BFF (my daughter #2) went for bigger than last year... I would say they accomplished that mission. Although, I would say that the Moms did most of the work.

So, while I am sitting describing away, I am sure many of you just want to know what the HECK is a homecoming MUM...

Well, here ya go!!!

The first pic is not that great. It was taken on my cell. I would call these about MEDIUM sized mums. Of course, the kids felt they needed to strike a pose. Oh, and your eyes are not deceiving you.. They are lit up.

My son reluctantly posed for this pic. I was just too excited to have finally finished this years bunch.

My daughter, with her friends from her culinary class. As you can see, they are all so very different.

Make sure to google homecoming mums. I have already been informed that next year, my daughter wants a triple mum for her Senior year. That should be interesting.

I hope you enjoyed a little of the Texas tradition. I welcome any and comments and questions.

Also, please do not hesitate to share my blog with your friends. The more, the merrier.

Happy Crafting!!

Addicted to SVGCUTS.com and the Silhoutte Cameo

So, how funny is it that I am completely addicted to the Silhoutte Cameo and I do NOT even have one YET? My girlfriend invited me over a few weeks ago to play with her new toy, the Silhouette Cameo. We first made an absolutely adorable teapot.

For those of you who have never heard of the Silhouette Cameo, it is a digital cutter kind of like the Cricut. Only it does not require cartridges like the Cricut does, and uses digital files that can be downloaded from the internet. The best part is that you do not have to take up any more space in your craftroom, AND... you are supposed to be able to import any image and convert it to cut on the Silhouette.

Well... While I do not have the Silhouette, YET.. I have already started buying svg cut files from a new favorite website, svgcuts.com . They have amazing suites for $6.99, many freebie files and opportunities to download their latest creations for FREE. You really should check them out. You will NOT be disappointed.

Anyway, back to my crafty session with my friend, Anna. The very first project I got to play with was this teapot.

The suite for this teapot comes with many pieces, including a spoon, cup and saucer, and I believe two options for storing actual tea bags.. I can't wait to make the entire set.

So, for my second silhouette crafty session, I attacked the Ferris Wheel in a different suite. I hope you love it as much as I had fun putting it together. It did take a good bit of time, simply because I had to wait for the different layers to dry before proceeding. Anyway, here it is:

This lovely piece is now sitting up on a shelf in my craft room and I smile every time I see it.. And if you are curious.. YES, it DOES move. I will try to upload a video of it later this week for your enjoyment.. and mine :-)

I hope you have enjoyed today's little bit of sharing.. I will be posting soon about the fun my babies and I had making homecoming mums. For those of you NOT from the great state of TEXAS, you are in for a real TREAT. Stay Tuned..

Until my next post, Happy Crafting to you all

Close To My Heart Holiday Guide and my latest craftroom organizing effort

So, while I do not update my page as much as I would like, I am at least going to aim at posting once a month. I have a lot on my plate right now, finishing up school, kid's activities, trying to stay current with some card swap clubs I am in, etc.

With that said, I am super excited to announce the new Holiday Guide from CTMH. It went live October 15th and will run until December 31st or while supplies last. To make it even better, you have the opportunity to earn some of the items for free.

You can view the catalog mini on my website, or contact me to have one sent to you right away.

Now, I am so proud of myself. I have been trying to figure out a nice way to store my non CTMH ink pads. I found a great video on youtube and just adapted it for my needs. You can find the video here. I already have plans on adapting this for storage of other crafting supplies. Please, excuse the mess on my craft table. I had just finished my project. I hope you like it.

It was made out of nearly 4 sheets of foam board and my glue gun. I got the foam board from my local Dollar Tree store. So much cheaper than in any of the other local retailers. It is a bit more labor intensive than any of the other videos I researched, but definitely the best built and looks great. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I will do my best to answer the best that I can. I pretty much winged it, as it was my first attempt.

I hope you keep checking in, as I will attempt to post more often. Not to mention, I will be sharing more wonderful specials from CTMH in the near future.

Happy Crafting to you all
